📖 Our Story:
We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls! The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.
Follow our journey as we turn this old stone house into a beautiful home 😊.

I also vote for a wooden bench
Beau travail grand bravo.
Amazing work brilliant
So you put geotex down to stop weeds but then put sand and earth on top. What makes you think weeds won’t grow in that?
Also, you have additional work when you continually cut grass between the stones; herbs like thyme is great; Irish moss, etc.
I love the new floor. Why did you choose gras and not for flowers or succulents? Adding wood to the terras gives a more warm feeling but you can use also tiles for the bench. The pergola gives in the future a lot of shade by the vines.
Wooden bench or 2, rustic looking would suit the area very well. Looks stunning, love the idea of the earth and grass growing inbetween the stones.
Tres beau
The terrace looks wonderful. What a big job that all was! I like the idea of the grass growing between the paving stones to soften the look some and for the same reason I like the idea of putting a wooden bench on your banquette area for seating. Being able to put tiny fairy lights under and around, sounds enchanting. You two always have good ideas and good taste. I’m sure whatever you decide will be lovely.😊 PS What kind of vines are there to put over your pergola? And what kind of tree is to the right side of the Terrace looking at the house?
Sorry to sound stereotypical, but building a pizza oven on that property out of leftover stone may be the most Italian thing that you could ever do.
I admire your endless dedication to your project, and the never ending patience. So, some days are full of energy some are less. But the result is always worth it. 👏🏻👑
Beautiful it will be❤
Use the stones you already have but break it up with wood. Instead of one continuous bench you could have different. Otherwise it could look like a stadium bench. It could be stone, wood and a lot of greenery.
That looks beautiful! Worth the hard work for sure!
Bonjour. Bon courage! J’adore votre maison…
The terrace looks great, well done! Wooden benches might look good and be a nice change with all that stone.
Bravvooo ❤❤
So beautiful. So fullend. This is my first comment after following you in 5 month. I just love your work.
Stay with the stone, its how this area is meant to be. Plant creeping herbs like thyme and camomile in a few places. Beautiful scent released when you walk on them. Not too sure you'll like all the grass over the whole area, plus you'll find weeds growing from the native soil you used. That part puzzles me a little.
Bravo❤❤❤
Beautiful work ❤
🎉
Sow clover which is low lying and very pretty and attract bees.
beautyfull &👌 thanks for showing this 👍
The wooden bench seats are a good idea. It would soften the look of the patio and make it a very inviting place to entertain. Not sure about the lighting beneath the seats but some sconce down lighting the stone walls would be beautiful. Continue the lovely job you are both doing. I enjoy watching your updates/videos
I love the idea of terracotta tiles for the bench. They would get such a beautiful patina from people sitting on them. Save the wood for a massive dining table
👍
Bonjour, bonsoir... Courage.
You are part of my Sunday routine, I look forward to seeing your progress. I don’t know where you get your energy and drive but you give this old man a great deal of pleasure as you continuously never let your high standards drop. I’m kind of proud of you.
Yeah, definitely a wooden type bench with lights up lighting the stone wall. When everything is established, planting wise, it would look spectacular in the evenings. 👍. Though, anything you two do will no doubt be amazing.
In alternativa piante culinarie.
Wood will turn grey if not painted (or treated every few years). Grey wood is perfectly fine but may not provide the contrast with the stone that you seek. Painted wood would privide a good contrast with a modern look, and last longer than a stain or clear coat. Use a good quality exterior house paint and primer.
